Join HDC for a walk along Queens Boulevard, as we explore the neighborhood of Rego Park, a 2020 Six to Celebrate. Founded in 1923 by the Real Good Construction Company, construction began in 1925. This walk will focus on the 1920s and 30s apartment buildings and single family homes that make up the area, as well as some community landmarks along the Boulevard. With recent increased development pressure, the community, including the Rego-Forest Preservation Council, has been advocating for significant sites including rare modernist buildings.

The tour will be led by HDC’s executive director Frampton Tolbert, who created Queens Modern, an online resource examining vernacular modernism in the borough of Queens. The project has received a New York State Council on the Arts grant and a James Marston Fitch Foundation Fellowship, as well as a Modernism in America Award from Docomomo US.
