South Bronx

Bronx native and tour guide Alexandra Maruri has been leading tours of the South Bronx for MAS for a long time, but now she has revised this tour because so much has changed – and continues to change. The neighborhoods of Port Morris and Mott Haven are rich in history and in particular architecture history, and Alexandra knows it in meticulous detail. We’ll visit sites of the early iron works, piano factories, and ice houses, and see how historic architecture can be creatively re-used and not demolished. Houses of worship, rowhouses and new small businesses will round out our journey of this vibrant urban landscape.
