Please join Center for Architecture to celebrate the opening of two fall exhibitions at the Center for Architecture and the launch of the 14th edition of Archtober, a month-long NYC-based festival that celebrates the discovery of architecture and design. Each October, the Festival collaborates with hundreds of partners to present tours, lectures, workshops, panels, exhibitions, and events. This year’s theme, Archtober 2024: Tracing the Future, delves into the evolving landscape of NYC through affordable housing, sustainable design, infrastructure, and more.

To mark the start of the festival, and the conclusion of our 20th anniversary celebrations, the Center for Architecture is opening the following two exhibitions, both on view October 1, 2024–April 5, 2025:

Built by New York celebrates the work of architects, designers, and affiliated professionals in the New York City design community. Past, current, and future work from members of AIA New York, AIA Brooklyn, AIA Bronx, AIA Staten Island, and AIA Queens will take over three floors of the Center for Architecture galleries, providing a snapshot of our community’s impact on the city and the built environment at large.

Why Design? is the Center for Architecture Education Department’s exhibition of K-12 student design work from our Learning By Design:NY in-school residencies and school and Youth and Family workshops held at the Center for Architecture. Why Design? highlights our project-based methods and program themes while celebrating the creativity of our students, Design Educators, and partner teachers.
