Come together with Plaza Jewish Community Chapel and the Museum at Eldridge Street in preparation for the holiest day of the year.

Join us on Tuesday, October 8th, at 6pm with executive Vice President of Plaza Jewish Community Chapel, Stephanie Garry, bereavement counselor, end-of-life doula, and hospice social worker, Amber Keinan, and senior rabbi of Temple Shaaray Tefila, Rabbi Joel Mosbacher for a virtual discussion about the emotional and spiritual responsibility of saying Yizkor, The Memorial Prayer, for loved ones. Whether this Yom Kippur will be your 1st time saying Yizkor or your 50th, this virtual program will support and uplift your experience.

About the Speakers:

Stephanie Garry has held many roles within Plaza Jewish Community Chapel since joining the organization in 2002. In 2021, Stephanie became Executive Vice President of Communal Partnerships. Prior to that, she was Chief Administrative Officer for six years after having served as Director of Community Relations for ywelve years. From 1995-1997, Stephanie was President of Temple Shaaray Tefila, a Reform congregation in Northern Westchester, and has remained a member of this temple ever since. She has served as Community Outreach co-chair for the Westchester Chapter of the American Jewish Committee, is a former member of the Commission for Social Action and the Union for Reform Judaism, and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of CAJAC (Community Alliance for Jewish-affiliated Cemeteries), a board member of the Hadassah Foundation, and president of Elluminate.

Stephanie Garry is host of the newly launched podcast Exit Strategy which received the 2023 Communicator Award for Distinction, and has been published regularly in eJewish Philanthropy (eJP) and The Times of Israel. She has been married to Art Tatge for 45 years and their son Zach Tatge, daughter-in-law Briana, and grandson live in New York City.

Amber Keinan, LMSW is the co-founder of LifeStorms, a provider of psycho-emotional and spiritual support for individuals navigating grief. Both in group work and in her private practice, Amber works at the intersection of spirituality, mental health and psychedelics, working with clients to somatically process and heal the trauma of loss. Amber holds a BA from Cornell University and an MSW work from Yeshiva University with a certificate in gerontology and palliative care. She is also trained as an end-of-life Doula by the University of Vermont and has extensive training in Psychedelic Assisted Therapy. Amber currently sits on the board of Natal, one of Israel’s foremost trauma and resiliency centers, and on the advisory board for the Jewish Theological Seminary’s CPE Program.

Rabbi Joel Mosbacher has served as the senior rabbi of Temple Shaaray Tefila since 2016.

Rabbi Mosbacher holds a Doctorate of Ministry from the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, from which he was ordained in 1998. He has been featured in national news outlets, and he speaks and writes extensively on issues concerning social justice, Israel, and Jewish values, among others.

Prior to joining Shaaray Tefila, Rabbi Mosbacher served as rabbi of Beth Haverim Shir Shalom in New Jersey for 15 years. He previously had served as one of the rabbis at Temple Emanu-El in Atlanta, Georgia. Rabbi Mosbacher and Elyssa have two children.
