NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate and the Institute for Public Architecture (IPA) host a screening of The Story of the BQE, a documentary tracing the history of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (BQE). Using archival footage and photography, the film shows how the construction of the 35-mile-long BQE demolished historic neighborhoods in Brooklyn and Queens, divided communities, and displaced thousands of New Yorkers across the two boroughs. The filmmaker, architect Adam Paul Susaneck of Segregation by Design, will be present for a post-screening conversation and audience Q&A. The event is free and open to the public. Registration is required.
