[In-person tour] William B. Tubby was one of late 19th century Brooklyn’s finest architects. Oil man Charles Pratt first hired him to design a wedding gift house for his eldest son, Charles Willard Pratt. Pratt and his sons were so pleased they gave commissions to Tubby to design the library and other structures on the Pratt Institute campus, several groups of houses built by Pratt’s Morris Building Company and more. These houses were the “affordable housing” of their day, and many remain. Tubby enjoyed both a personal and professional relationship with the Pratt family that lasted until his death. Our tour has it all – academic buildings, mansions and homes. Please join Suzanne Spellen and Morgan Munsey for this unique Clinton Hill journey and see examples of why his reputation is so deserved.
