Raúl Cárdenas Osuna is the founder of Torolab (Tijuana, Mexico), an artist collective, workshop and laboratory of contextual studies that identifies situations or phenomena of interest for research, basing the studies in the realm of lifestyles to better grasp the idea of quality of life. Their work has been shown at MoMA, New York City; Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Denmark; Moderna Museet, Stockholm; MCA Australia; Havana, Liverpool, Lyon, and Venice Biennials; and has received awards by the Rockefeller Foundation and Harvard’s Cultural Agents Initiative, among others. In 2011, Cárdenas Osuna founded and directed the Digital and Creative axis for the Metropolitan Strategic Plan of Tijuana-Rosarito-Tecate; and was named Person of the Year by Tijuana’s newspaper Frontera. Cárdenas Osuna has been an advisor for Tijuana’s government on sustainable city development and social innovation. He currently directs the program of the Transborder Farmlab and the Applied Social Research and Innovation Lab (LiiSA) in Tijuana/Mexico City.
