Spooky season is upon us! This month, some of our Archtober partners are hosting programs that explore the eerie side of things... We’ve selected a few events so you can join along and uncover supernatural stories and secrets hidden in the walls of NYC's architecture.

Candlelight Ghost Tours of Manhattan's Most Haunted House with Merchant House Museum, October 18–19, 25–27, 30

Doors slam, floorboards creak, voices call into the dead of night. Venture into “Manhattan’s Most Haunted House” by flickering candlelight to hear chilling – and true – tales of decades of otherworldly activity in the house, the results of years of paranormal investigations, and the latest stunning scientific findings.

The Tredwell family lived at 29 East 4th Street for nearly 100 years, and at least eight people died in the house. Reports of strange and inexplicable occurrences have been widespread since Gertrude, the last surviving Tredwell, died in 1933. Is it Gertrude who is watching over her family home? Join along and decide for yourself.

Spirited Stroll with Green-Wood Cemetery, October 26–27

A perennial favorite returns! Embrace the chill of the air as you wander through the stunning fall foliage of Green-Wood. Join the Cemetery’s historian, Jeff Richman, as he guides you on a walking tour filled with intriguing stories of murder, mystery, unearthly spirits, and captivating oddities. Visit the final resting places of notable figures like Frank Morgan, the wizard of The Wizard of Oz, and George Washington’s favorite dentist. Learn about the origins of Spiritualism through tales of its somewhat dubious founder. Don’t miss this opportunity to immerse yourself in a blend of history and folklore amid the picturesque beauty of autumn at Green-Wood!
